Angina pectoris is a syndrome and a symptom of coronary disease. It feels like a stabbing in the heart because of the suppressed flow of the blood. Ayurveda explains it as the augmented Kapha dosh that becomes a significant cause of cardio problems in human anatomy. Further, the Ayurvedic texts describe Angina Pectoris as making it feel like breathlessness, nausea, chest pain reaching the left arm, etc.
Times when the body goes through the imbalanced state of Kapha, it promotes the production of toxins that eventually results in the cardiovascular and renal disorders in high ratios. Following that, the ama (toxin) accumulation in the Hridya Vahi (the heart channels) blocks the Vatta (the air) channel of the heart that creates shortness of breath, pain in the chest, and Acute Heart attack. Angina Pectoris may promote stress and anxiety because of the sudden attacks for long.
