Liver and Gall bladder may have the same placement, but their functions have variations. However, they both help in the formation of blood and digestion of food but have different responsibilities. Viewing through the eyes of Ayurveda, these two organs are the primary subtypes of Panchaka and Ranjaka that are essential for the better functioning of the circulatory system, digestive system, and endocrine system. Both these organs are located in the abdomen on the upper right. The duct that connects both is known as the biliary tract that drains in the first segment of duodenum, the small intestine.
The liver cells produced bile that helps in the breakdown of the fat and fat-soluble vitamins consumed through the food. The failure in the digestion of food aggravates Kapha and weakness the Pitta leading to the liver and gall bladder disorders. The possible causes are the overconsumption of alcohol, contaminated water, and genetic dispositions. Ayurveda personifies the ability to get rid of such disorders by recommending herbal supplements and amendments in diet and lifestyle.
