Stuffy nose or the Rhinitis is a medical condition of the inflamed nostrils or the mucous membrane. It personifies itchy throat and eyes with severe headaches. It may signify the watery discharge and frequent sneezing. Three types of Rhinitis can trigger a respiratory system; acute, chronic, and Allergic Rhinitis. The possible causes are viral infections, fumes, seasonal changes, pollen, dust, and pollution. Another reason for this disorder in the respiratory system is low immune power, hypersensitivity of the nervous system, and reactions to specific aroma and fragrance.
Ayurvedic management of Rhinitis states that it is a defect known as the ‘Nasya Kark’ that is a defect in the nasal area. It creates irritation in the nose and the mucous membrane that happens because of the sensitivity towards specific food, drugs, smell, and mammals. The course of medication in Ayurveda includes therapies like oiling therapy and breathing exercises. Oiling therapy consists of the application of sesame or coconut oil in the nostrils that eases the irritation and improves the immune power of human anatomy.
